Amanda Brugel

(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a sleepy community on this part of the island of Montreal called"the West Island. People unfamiliar with the term tend to think there is a separate island to the west of Montreal but in fact the West Island is home to every aspect of the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is frequently called her birthplace. However, she only stayed there for a short duration. Brugel lived in Courtice, just outside of Oshawa. Her first ambition was to be an expert dancer. But, a growing increase caused her to surpass her dance partners she had. In an interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet, 1 inch." As soon as I outgrew my male counterparts then I stopped. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. For Brugel it was because of the advice by her drama instructor at her high school which pushed her to take the step she needed. She was encouraged to audition for a part in her school's production. She was the teacher who suggested that she pursue a part the annual school production. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned the Bachelors in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Her career spans 20 years and she's appeared in 60 different productions, both on big screens and smaller ones. Her most notable role was that of Rita (pictured beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in the season 1 and was only seen on occasion.
